The Friends of the Pittsburg Public Library organization, with over 200 members,
plays a significant role in supporting the library’s programs and services.
Volunteers raise money to purchase library materials and to fund a variety of programs
throughout the year, including the library’s summer reading programs.
The Friends hold an annual book sale each Labor Day Weekend in conjunction with the local Little Balkans Days Celebration. This popular event is the Friends’ major fund-raising activity and continues to grow each year. (Friends get to shop the night before!) Books are also for sale throughout the year at the library, with all book sale proceeds going to the Friends of the Library.
The regular membership meets only once a year, usually in April. The Friends' annual meeting includes election of officers and usually a special program, which is open to the public. The Friends' Board of Directors meets at the library at 5:30 p.m. on the first Monday of every other month.
You can join the Friends of the Pittsburg Public Library at one of five annual membership levels as shown on the organization's Membership Application. Just mail your completed application and dues to the Friends at the library’s address, and you will begin receiving a quarterly newsletter to keep you informed of Friends’ activities.
